Choosing a Peep Sight

A peep sight is a very crucial accessory to consider. You have choices ranging from self aligner peeps (which use either rubber or silicone tubing to align the peep) to tubeless peeps like the G5 meta peeps. So how do you choose if you want tubeless or not? In making this decision one has to think what type of strings are on your bow. Better quality strings such as Vapor Trail which really don’t stretch and have a high twist ratio enable the tubeless peeps to be used. Whereas lower quality strings that tend to stretch and have a low twist ratio the aligner peeps tend to be a better choice. The aligner peeps do have some down falls. The main drawback to self aligner peeps is the tube will inevitably come loose or break.

Unfortunately, one of my friends learned that the hard way. He was at full draw on a 145 class ten point at fifteen yards when the rubber tubing on his peep broke coming back hitting him in the eye.  Causing him to flinch and punch the trigger of his release, he hit the buck extremely high just below the back bone and above all vitals. He searched for the buck, but was never able to find it. That is just one of many times I have heard this happening to people, each one loosing the deer all because their peep relied on a $2 piece of rubber tubing. Since then I will never shoot anything except a tubeless peep and I will even go to extremes and replace low quality strings and cables with Vapor Trail strings.

Bow hunting already has enough challenges, and when all your hard work pays off and that once in a lifetime buck steps into your lane your equipment must not let you down. Consider a tubeless peep to help make your bowhunting setup fail proof and you will have more confidence when that trophy is on the line.
